The IN5811 is an “ultrafast recovery”  rectifier diode designed for high-reliability applications where failure can’t be tolerated. A rectifier diode is a semiconductor device that converts alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC). Essentially, it rectifies the alternating voltage by allowing current to flow in only one direction. When the voltage across its terminals is in the forward direction, the rectifier diode conducts current, while when the voltage is in the reverse direction, it blocks current.

The IN5811 is certified to the U.S. military specification MIL-PRF-19500/477, which defines the performance requirements for silicon, fast recovery, and power rectifier diodes. The specification provides four levels of product assurance (JAN, JANTX, JANTXV, and JANS) for each encapsulated device type.
